Rediscovered by Chinese physicians in the 1970s, Artemisia annua is now an integral part of Chinese medicine. The discoverers received the Nobel Prize in Medicine in 2015.

Essential oils included include alpha-pinene, camphor, limonene, alpha-terpinene, beta-pinene, carene, eucalyptus oil, artemisia ketones, copaene, caryophyllene, menthol and alpha-terpineol.
