Neither fish nor fowl!

Dog and cat food with insects is an important source of protein and contains essential nutrients and minerals. Upon closer inspection, it quickly becomes clear that insect protein offers a number of benefits.

Environmentally friendly breeding
An insect-based diet is a real relief for our planet. Studies suggest that insect protein reduces the environmental impact of farming and feeding
Insects can improve the quality of life. Insects require almost no resources for their rearing, using approximately 10% of the energy while producing the same protein yield as commercial meat production. Their husbandry and breeding are also less ethically problematic than cattle, pigs, or poultry. These are far more sensitive and suffer from factory farming, but insects prefer the company of their own kind.

IInsect protein is hypoallergenic and free from antibiotic residues
Insects are not only convincing due to their high quality and good digestibility, they are also particularly easy to digest and have virtually no allergy potential, making them hypoallergenic. Of particular note is their ability to be used for food-sensitive pets; switching to insect protein can sometimes work wonders. This also contributes to a positive climate footprint. The use of antibiotics is not a problem in factory farming.
The insect larvae do not become sick in the traditional sense, so their breeding does not require antibiotics and therefore does not contain any traces of medication.

High production costs and cross-reactions in insects?
There are currently no standardized, automated breeding conditions for insects, but given the demand, there is still a need for action. The only risk we know of is
There is a minimal risk of cross-reaction with shellfish in humans, but this has not been sufficiently researched. The positive side is that this risk is almost nonexistent in dogs and cats.

Insects are the protein source of the future
Insects serve as a sustainable source of protein and contain important amino acids. Because they are classified as farm animals, they must be fed with animal feed and may not be fed with food industry waste. Insect food is especially suitable for dogs and cats with allergies, intolerances, or generally sensitive digestion. Insects also have a high biological value, are resource-efficient, and sustainable.

YES, insects are neither fish nor fowl, but they carry all the benefits and we are taking another step towards a positive and sustainable future.
