Pet food samples for dogs: How to offer your four-legged friend a new pet food without stress

As a dog owner, you naturally want to go to the vet immediately if there are any signs of an allergy. A responsible decision, but often this is where difficulties arise. Many dogs feel uncomfortable in vet waiting rooms – new smells, other animals and general nervousness lead to stress. In this state of tension, dogs are often offered a sample of a “new” food, and this is where a mistake often happens.

The dogs associate the smell of the food sample with the stress and discomfort of the vet’s office and reject it. This refusal often persists even when the food sample is offered at home.

The solution? Take the sample home with you and add a few pellets of the new food to your dog’s “old” food. Introduce the new food slowly, in a stress-free environment.
