Dogs that swim frequently are particularly susceptible, as water can enter the ear canal and dry slowly. Bacteria can easily multiply in this warm, humid environment. Even our seniors sometimes need assistance with ear cleaning, as they are often no longer physically able to do it themselves.

Another risk factor is frequent cleaning with aggressive ear cleaners, which dry out the sensitive mucous membranes. This can impair the ear canal's natural protective mechanisms and thus promote the development of ear infections.
